Worcestershire Life Client Luncheon

By Worcestershire Life on December 23rd 2011

Worcestershire Life hosted a Christmas luncheon for clients and contributors at The Southcrest Manor Hotel, Redditch. Midlands group publisher Martyn Hammond and editor Joanne Goodwin thanked guests for their support during a year which saw circulation and subscriptions rise and outlined plans for 2012, including digital innovations. The Reverend Ian Charlesworth, the Parson, of Worcestershire Life’s Parson and the Publican column recited a Worcestershire Life Grace. Guests received gift bags with shortbread biscuits courtesy of the award-winning Meg Rivers Artisan Bakery. www.megrivers.co.uk

The privately-owned Southcrest Manor Hotel, on the Worcestershire and Warwickshire border, is something of a hidden gem, nestling in 10 acres of landscaped grounds and rural woodland.

Dating back to 1921, the original manor house was built by Charles Terry of Redditch-based Herbert Terry & Sons Ltd. It was said at the time that the land as far as the eye could see belonged to the Terry family.

The mansion became a hotel in the 1970s and to this day retains some of its wonderful original period features, such as an impressive central staircase and the ornate styling of the large function room. These public areas have been sympathetically refurbished over the past 12 months, as part of an on-going project to return the hotel to its former glory.

With something for everyone, from family gatherings to weddings, banquets and conferencing, the hotel has much to offer. There are 60 comfortable bedrooms, ranging from executive standard accommodation to boutique manor house rooms. Oscar’s Restaurant, designed in harmony with the heritage of the building, offers diners the opportunity to sample great food while enjoying stunning views of the gardens. The lounge bar and conservatory present a relaxing retreat for a quiet drink or
get-together with friends.

Guests can also take advantage of the health and beauty spa which opened in February 2011. The spa offers two saunas, a hot tub, fully-equipped gym, chill-out room, plus a wide range of beauty and pampering treatments.
